Village in Medieval Italy; Day # 1
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Calling Peeps from all walks of life, from far and wide, from all cultures, no matter how strange! Hear and Listen and Attend to these words from the most beneficent Mayor of Aquileia:
“I, Pietro Gerra, offer Land, Gold and Opportunity to all who dare the perils of travel to join me in rebuilding the once mighty Aquileia to her former Glory! Let us establish her, and not Venice, as the Center of Trade, Commerce and Culture: a hub of the great Trade Routes! Let us fill her beautiful lagoons with trade ships from across the Mediterranean. Let us fill her now empty streets with the musical babel of foreign languages and her abandoned shops with exotic goods from the farthest reaches of the World! There are Aqueducts, Cathedrals, Guild Halls and Harbors to restore. We need boats built and fearless sailors to sail them! We have need of Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices of all the Trades to build shops and sell their wares, and Traders - the most fearless of all - men and women who dare to travel the Silk, Amber and Spice Roads from the Baltic to the far distant Orient, and bring to us riches from these foreign lands. Pack your bags and bid farewell to your familiar homes. Saddle your donkeys and your horses, mend your sails and point your faces towards Aquileia, the land of your good fortune!
Make Haste! The Time is Now! We must establish Aquileia as the new Trade Capital before Venice snatches it out from under us!”
With such a call out to the outlying regions of Europe it is only natural that Villagers would be more than eager to begin making Peeps and begin the adventure - and that is exactly what we did!
After a morning of discovering what we know and wonder about Europe in 1299 we launched into creating the Peeps who will answer the call of Pietro Gerra; to build a town on the banks of the Mediterranean, the new "crown jewel" of the network of Trade Routes.
It was a busy day - getting to know each other and launching yet another exciting year of Village!
