In Village children will imagine, design and build a scale model Village and Carnival. They will make Peeps, 3 inch avatars created by the Villagers, each with its own personality and life story. Peeps will want a home; Villagers are eager to oblige them! "But, where shall the Peeps homes be?" On real land, of course! Villagers are granted a plot of land for the Town Center and enough for each Peep Resident. "But what can I build and craft with?" Villagers will ask. Everything one needs can be found at the Village Trading Post! "Great! But what can I buy my materials with?" Village Money, of course – just trot on over to the Village Bank and apply for a loan! Or, Villagers may prefer to earn their own money and will either apply for a job or start their own business. Once money is flowing through the Village economy, Villagers will head over to the Village Trading Post to buy their building and crafting materials. The Trading Post has everything from feathers to framing lumber, and from glitter to wood glue; whatever you need, the Trading Post has got it, or something close enough! But wait a minute – who's working at the Bank and Trading Post? Who's running this village anyway? The Villagers are! Villagers apply for jobs, start businesses, run for public office, run service organizations – anything and everything can happen in Village! Will Villagers discover a need for government? Legislate laws? Levy taxes? The Villagers themselves will determine everything! There is just no knowing what turn Village will take…
We may have Gladiators, Cave Men and Women, Space Travelers, Haberdashers, Faeries, Gypsies, Ne'er Do Wells and Model Citizens, all mingling together in the same dynamic Village. With such variety we may have to make Time and Space Capsules, to enable Peeps to get from "here to then and there", or maybe a teleporter.....There is just no telling what will arise. But one thing IS for certain – we will build, craft, and create for three glorious weeks and, when all is said and done, we will have an amazing village and carnival built in 1/24 scale!
Village is real life on a small scale, providing young people the opportunity to practice a wide range of real life skills within the context of a game. Village is about playing, designing, building, crafting and problem-solving. It's also about collaboration, entrepreneurship, networking, personal finances and politics. Most importantly, Village is about FUN! Imagination rules and anything is possible...
Space is limited to 25 Villagers between the ages of 8 and 14 years.
